百廿征程弦歌不辍，岁月峥嵘初心如磐。2027年5月20日，同济大学将迎来120周年华诞。盛典在望，谨向全体师生员工、海内外校友及社会各界友人，致以崇高敬意和美好祝愿！
同心同德，济世兴邦。1907年，同济大学肇始于同济德文医学堂，秉“医工救国”之志，扶危济困，求新图强，1927年跻身国立大学之列。抗战烽火，六次迁校，辗转万里，矢志不渝，医工理法文，聚力育英才。新中国成立后，鼎力支持国家高教布局，经院系调整，发展成为国内土木建筑领域规模最大、学科最全的工科大学。改革开放之初，战略性实施“两个转变”，恢复对德交流，发展为多科性大学。世纪之交，先后汇聚上海城市建设学院、上海建筑材料工业学院、上海铁道大学及上海航空工业学校诸校力量，成功实现了向综合性大学的跨越。新时代，同济人牢记嘱托，坚持与祖国同行、以科教济世，全力推进“双一流”建设，把建校百年对社会的郑重承诺镌入民族复兴伟业。
自强不息，华章日新。建校以来，同济大学始终与中华民族命运休戚与共，与祖国科教事业心手相牵，与上海城市发展相濡以沫，积淀了“同舟共济”的校训，形成了“严谨、求实、团结、创新”的校风；一代又一代同济人上下求索、百折不挠，一步一个脚印把论文写在祖国大地上。今日之同济，正以“数智化、绿色化、融合化”为战略指引，全面推动学科转型升级，一体推进教育科技人才发展，奋力书写“强国建设、同济有为”的时代答卷。面向未来，学校将大力弘扬同舟共济的精神，同心聚力展宏图，坚定转型开新局，向新向优赴新程，朝着建设成为中国特色世界一流大学的目标阔步前进。

Across its 120-year journey, Tongji University has carried forward its scholarly tradition and remained true to its founding mission through eventful times. On May 20, 2027, Tongji University will mark its 120th anniversary. As this milestone approaches, we extend our deep respect and best wishes to all students, faculty and staff, alumni around the world, and friends from all sectors of society.
United in Purpose, Serving the Nation. Founded in 1907 as the Tongji German Medical School, Tongji University was born from the aspiration to “save the nation through medicine and engineering”. In 1927, amid adversity and with renewed ambition, it joined the ranks of China’s national universities. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the university relocated six times over thousands of miles, yet never wavered in its dedication to education. Its strengths in medicine, engineering, science, law, and the humanities came together to cultivate outstanding talents. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Tongji University gave strong support to the national planning of higher education. Following the nationwide restructuring of academic disciplines in 1952, it became China’s largest engineering university with the most comprehensive range of disciplines in civil engineering and architecture. In the early years of Reform and Opening-up, the university strategically pursued the “Two Transformations”, restored exchanges with Germany, and developed into a multidisciplinary university. At the turn of the century, it brought together the strengths of several institutions in urban construction, building materials, railways, and aviation, successfully making the transition to a comprehensive university. In the new era, the Tongji community remains mindful of its mission, advances alongside the nation, and serves society through science and education. The university is advancing the “Double First-Class” initiative with full commitment, honoring its solemn centennial pledge to society in the great cause of national rejuvenation.
Striving for Excellence, Writing New Chapters. Since its founding, Tongji University has shared in the destiny of the Chinese nation, advanced hand in hand with the nation’s science and education endeavors, and grown together with the city of Shanghai. Through this journey, it has nurtured the university motto “Tong Zhou Gong Ji” —together in one boat for a better future— and fostered an ethos of “Rigor, Pragmatism, Unity, and Innovation”. Members of the Tongji community, generation after generation, have pursued knowledge with perseverance and, step by step, applied their learning to the needs of the nation. Today, guided by the strategy of “digital intelligence, green development, and integration”, Tongji University is driving the transformation and upgrading of its disciplines, while advancing the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent. The university is writing its chapter in the story of “Building a Strong Nation—Tongji in Action”. Looking ahead, Tongji University will carry forward the spirit of “Tong Zhou Gong Ji”, rally collective strength for development, embrace transformation to open new horizons, and march with renewed vigor toward its goal of becoming a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
At 120, in Full Vigor, Forging Ahead on a New Journey. To honor its history, carry forward its spirit, unite its community, and pursue shared development, Tongji University will hold a series of events to commemorate its 120th anniversary, guided by the themes of “Academic Excellence, Global Engagement, Alumni Fellowship, and Tongji Spirit”. We warmly invite alumni around the world and friends from all sectors of society to gather at Tongji, renew friendships, and join us in this grand celebration!
